This is a case to illustrate how to get the best pictures for action events, in particular, with a Canon EOS 40D digital camera, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM Lens in a football game. 

Capturing the Storm

I have learned that lightning photography is part skill, part luck and as you mostly have to shoot outdoors a lot of risk!

Firstly you have to wait for the right storm, one that allows you to take her photo and doesn't decide to wipe you and your equipment out. I am not a storm chaser as such but when the opportunity presents itself I certainly do try to take advantage of the moment without getting fried in the process!!

Digital Infrared Photography - A Cut Above The Rest

Do you know what infrared is all about? Infrared is a spectrum of light further than that which you normally see. If you wish to take "infrared" pictures all you need to do is filter out the visible light and allow the infrared spectrum all the way through to the lens. The best you can do is use a Wratten filter, which you can avail from any professional camera shop. These Wratten filters are very dense filters, nearly opaque in appearance.
